How Do You Define Success?
The fact is, you can define success in a varied number of ways, simply because the definition of success varies from one person to the next. The people who succeed are individuals, but they belong to a collective of human beings who have walked the walk and definitely can talk the talk. How can you measure success? Well, there isn’t a specific way, but from speaking to many people, you do find certain things that resonate with each other. This article will try its best to make that measurement tangible, and hopefully something you can reach to and measure yourself up to, wherever you may be in your life in this day and age.
One way of telling that you’ve found success is a sense of completion or contentment; when you finally rest on your laurels and find that there is nothing left that you desire to achieve. And not in a bad way. You look at life in a different perspective, in a different light; you would feel at peace with yourself knowing that there is nothing else you need to do to prove your worth to the world. Success is the measure of ambition and once both have reached their peak and there is no mountain to climb or ocean to traverse, the spirit relaxes and the mind slips into an almost meditative state of bliss. Try looking into the eyes of successful people; you will find that their contentment with their achievements is apparent in their eyes and how it radiates from their entire being. Even their body language would exude their euphoria at having achieved their goals. There is no longer a need to size up competition and ruminate about life - it has given all it can and now is the time to waft with the waves to that final destination.
Of course there are other ways to measure success, one very common and easy way of measuring success is through materialistic means. This can be in the form of money they’ve made, material acquisitions (like property), or even awards won in their lives. These are some of the ways that a population will measure their success with. Whatever the case, our successes in life can be measured in either the tangible or intangible, and while some tangible rewards may seem less noble than the intangible, spiritual ones, we all tend to seek solace in whatever we can achieve out of life. Even a pat on the back, a hand shake, an awards ceremony or an elegant letter - these are some things that life and our careers can reward us with.
Success comes in many forms and each person has a different way of how they have made their mark in life, in their careers and in the things that they treasure most to them. How they want to display it to the world and what feelings these measures of success give them. At the end of the day, we all need to look into ourselves and determine what we deem as our own personal definition of success.
